Rowley - Raymond E. Angelow, 84 years old, of Rowley, Iowa, died on Monday, November 20, 2006, at West Village Care Center in Independence following a long illness. He was born on December 7, 1921, in Rowley, Iowa, the son of Clarence Guy and Alta Leona (Kress) Angelow. He attended school in Quasqueton, Iowa. On January 20, 1944, he and the former Florence Allene Wathen were married in Manchester, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. Angelow was a truck driver for the farm implement dealership in Rowley for more than 40 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Rowley Volunteer Fire Department for 54 years. He served as a member of the Rowley City Council and was also Mayor of Rowley. In 2002 he was the Grand Marshall of the Rowley Days Parade.
Mr. Angelow is survived by his sister, Dorothy Ayers of Vienna, Georgia, 1 brother-in-law, Bill (Lois) Wathen of Independence, Iowa, 2 sisters-in-law, Nona (Clarence) Liebsch of Jesup, Iowa, and Linda (Don) Gosse of Independence, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Casket Bearers were LaVern Liebsch, Gary Liebsch, Dennis Billings, Mike Billings, Brad Billings, Mike Wathen, Carl Wathen, and Rick Martin. Burial was in Rowley Cemetery in Rowley, Iowa.
