AURORA - Raymond C. "Chuck" Fowlkes, 55, of Aurora, died Thursday, Dee. 6, 2007, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.,m. Monday,at the White Funeral Home in Independence, where a military memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
He was. born Feb. 19, 1952, in Independence, the son of Charles Edward and Bertha Mae (Holub) Fowlkes. He attended school in Independence. On May 12, 1970, he and the former Karen Catherine Fagle were married in Independence. They divorced in 2005. Mr. Fowlkes served in the Navy 20 years. At the time of his death, he was a maintenance employee at Tyson Foods in Waterloo, where he worked the past 17 years.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Mandy Barger) Fowlkes of Quasqueton; two daughters, Rhonda (Dan) Hekel of Vinton and Wanda (George Hinshaw) Schmitz of Quasqueton; his mother, Bertha (David VanLaningham) Mumford of Independence; 15 grandchildren; one brother, Nick Fowlkes of South Carolina; and three sisters, Jean Vaughn of Independence; Judy Pullin and Rhoda Wieneke, both of Waterloo.
