WINTHROP - William H. Schweitzer, 91, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at East Towne Care Center, Independence, following a short illness.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, with burial in Fremont Township Cemetery north of Winthrop. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
William was born Aug. 7, 1916, on a farm north of Winthrop, to William F. and Lucinda (Sickles) Schweitzer. He married Marian Nielsen on March 12, 1939 at Winthrop (she died in 1999). They farmed south of Aurora from 1938 until retiring in 1979 and moving into Winthrop.
Survivors include his son Ron (Glenda) Schweitzer of Aurora; his daughter Merry Burco of Winthrop; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glen of Winthrop, John (Rita) of Cedar Rapids and Robert of Joplin, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Gilson arid Betty (John) Baker, both of Winthrop.
