LA PORTE CITY - Ruby L. Spragg, 91, of Dysart, formerly of La Porte City; Hazleton, Guttenberg, Leesburg, F1a., and Oelwein died Saturday,Aug. 18, 2007 at the Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Hazleton 209 First St. N. with burial in the Fontana Cemetery, Hazleton Township.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Huisman Funeral Home in La Porte City and an hour before the service at the church Tuesday.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
She was born Aug. 25, 1915 in Stuttgart, Ark., the daughter of George and Mary Washburn VanNess. She married Guy E. Spragg on March 4, 1936 in Hazleton and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Ruby was a homemaker. She was a 50-year member and Past Matron of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one son, Thomas (Cheryl) Spragg of La Porte City; six grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Spragg of Arizona, Rex (Kristi) Spragg of Florida, Lisa (Mike) Ransom of Indianola, Carmen (Vern) Wilson of Ft. Dodge, Crystal Spragg and Joshua Spragg of La Porte City and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one great-granddaughter, Dana Allison Wilson; two sisters, Ila Kuyper and Nina Kneisel and three brothers, Everett, Lloyd and Roy VanNess.
