Raymond P. Grant
HAZLETON – Raymond P. Grant, 70, died Monday morning, April 16, 2007, at Oelwein Health Care Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick Fangman officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home, 309 First Ave. N.E., Oelwein, with a 6:30 p.m. military memorial service conducted by American Legion Ross Reid Post 9 of Oelwein, and a 7 p.m. scripture service led by Carol Hamilton. Raymond was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Dubuque, the son of Lawrence B. and Mary Anne (Murray) Grant. He married Revena "Vinnie" L. Watkins on May 30, 1959, in Brownwood, Texas. Raymond was a journeyman steamfitter who worked for Dubuque Plumbing and Heating. He was a lifelong member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Unit 125.
Survivors include his wife Revena "Vinnie" of Hazleton; one daughter Deeann Grant-Kite and her companion Scott Lloyd of Mason City; two sons, Richard T. Grant and his wife Kathy of, Marion, and Christopher P. Grant and his wife Mary of Toddville; 11 grandchildren, Shannon Jarvis, Michael Bergman, Amanda Goblirsch, Adam Williams, Dallas Grant, Abigail Grant, Kelly Grant, Mason Grant, Rylee Grant, Casey Cramblet and Jessica Cramblet; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy M. Grant and Irene Herrig, both of Dubuque; and one brother Norbert Grant of Dubuque; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Ambrose and Loras; and one sister, Rita Kopp.
A memorial fund has been established.
