LAMONT - John A. Meyer, 64, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at his home in Lamont, following a six-year battle with cancer.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, at the Lamont Baptist Church. Interment will be in Madison Cemetery south of Aurora. Friends may call 2 from to 7 p.m. Sunday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
John Arthur Meyer was born Jan.4, 1943 in Sycamore, Ill., the son of Clark Lester and Wilma Ellen Strong Meyer. He married Virginia Katherine Crawford on Oct. 30, 1964 at the Garden Prairie Church near Fayette. John worked as a long haul semi-driver until going to work for Farm Service as a truck driver and chemical applicator. Survivors include his wife Virginia "Ginny" of Lamont; three sons, Bryan (Audrey) of Iowa City; Dale (Lamista), of Dundee; and John (Christy) of Winthrop; seven grandchildren; two brothers Bob Hunt of Texas and Steve Meyer of South Carolina; two sisters Dewina Baker of Leaf River, Ill. and Theresa Silverman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla,.,and other relatives and many friends.
