Lola I. VanHeuvelen
INDEPENDENCE - Lola I. VanHeuvelen, 80, of Independence, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, following a sudden illness.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at the First Baptist Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Waterloo, the daughter of Vernie Merle and Hazel Irene (Rogers) Rogers. In 1944, she and Kuhny VanHeuvelen were married in Cedar Falls. They were later divorced. Mrs. VanHeuvelen was the owner and operator of Lola's, a women's clothing store in Independence. She also worked at the credit union at the Mental Health Institute in Independence before retiring.
Survivors: one son, Roger VanHeuvelen of Fisher, Minn., one brother, Earl (Joan) Rogers of Cedar Falls, and one sister, Carol Hoeweler of Dubuque.
