Sandra K. Shurtz (1957-2002)
Waterloo--Sandra Kay "Sandy" Shurtz, 45, of Waterloo,formerly of Hazleton, died Friday, Dec. 27, at Covenant Medical Center from complications of lupus.
She was born Jan. 5, 1957, in Independence, daughter of Clarence E. and Pauline R. Kaiser Smith. She worked as a dietary aide in nursing homes in Utah.
Survived by: a son, Bradley Cue of Oelwein; a daughter, Christy Cue Ecklor of Marshalltown; her mother of Hazleton; four brothers, James (Carol) Smith of Reno, Nev., David and Robert Smith, both of South Carolina and Dennis Smith of Hazleton; five sisters, Stacey Smith and Diane (Gerald) Gates, both of Aurora, Angela (Alex) Ricchio of Oelwein, and Peggy Eilers and Kelly Smith both of Hazleton.
Preceded in death by: her father.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Floral Hills Chapel Funeral Home, rural Hazleton, with burial in Bear Creek Cemetery, Brandon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
