Funeral services for Cato L. Kaiser, 71, will be held Wednesday, May 8, at 1:30 PM at the White Funeral Home Chapel in Independence. The Rev. Don E. Wooge from the Methodist Church in Brandon will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope cemetery.
Pallbearers will be from the Sheehan-Tidball American Legion Post No. 30 of Independence. Military rites will be conducted at the grave by the American Legion Post No. 342 from Jesup.
Mr. Kaiser died Sunday, May 5, 1968 about noon at his farm north of Brandon. He was born August 18, 1896 in Benton County near La Porte City, the son of Phillip H. and Carrie Stirm Kaiser. He married Auzetta Mabel Rogge on Oct. 20, 1920 at the Presbyterian Church in Independence. He farmed until 14 years ago when he became disabled. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel; three daughters, Mrs. Roberts (Kathryn) Shaffer, Brandon, Mrs. Glenn (Velda) Garretts, Springfield, ILL., and Mrs. Clarence (Pauline) Smith, Hazleton; 13 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mabel Baylor, Clearwater, Fla; six brothers, Letson Kaiser in California; Sheldon Kaiser, Waterloo, Phillip Kaiser, La Porte City; Paul Kaiser, Oelwein; Charon Kaiser, Green and Joe Kaiser, Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
A memorial fund has been established and folders are available at the White Funeral Home.
