INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Bernice Meister will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, with the Rev. Jeanne Murray officiating. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today (Monday) and anytime Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Meister, 71, died Sunday, Oct 6, 1996, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
She was born Sept. 29, 1925, in LaPorte City, the daughter of Clarence and Mattie Lee Sawyer Gardner. She attended the LaPorte City schools. On March 28, 1944, she married Hubert James Meister in Vinton. The couple later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Panda (Ted) Good and Karen Hill both of Independence; one son, Dale Meister of Independence; six grandchildren; and one brother, Roland Gardner of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 16 brothers and sisters.
