INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for John J. Fuller will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, with the Rev. Dale Halverson officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Hazleton. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
Mr. Fuller, 68, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence.
He was born May 6, 1929, in Jesup, the son of Omar Basil and Mary Woods Fuller. He attended Jesup schools. On June 11, 1950, he married Betty Lou Rose at the Presbyterian Church in Jesup. Mr. Fuller was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in Independence. Before retiring in 1994, he was involved in the lumber business for more than 50 years. He was the manager of Mod Comp Homes in Independence and associated with other area businesses.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Sharla (Larry) Borg of Iowa City, and Amy (Randy) Belding of Owatonna, Minn.; two sons, Raymond P. of Houston, Texas, and Larry of Dallas, Texas; three granddaughters; five brothers, Don of New Smyrna, Fla., Charles of Pinedale, Wyo., Jim of Vinton, Tom of Jesup, and Bill of Chicago, Ill.; and four sisters, Marge Moore of Oelwein, Fran Crawford of Independence, Joanie Ewalt of Cabot, Ark., and Marian Elson of Jesup.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
