Adjudged Insane-Perley Plane 1895

Cascade Pioneer, published in Cascade, Iowa on Friday, April 19th, 1895
Perley Plane, aged 17, charged with setting fire to his fatherís oil warehouse at Independence last July, was on trial for two days. He has been guilty of a long series of fires, including schoolhouses, store buildings, barns, etc. the defense claimed him to be a plyomanic for over two years. A verdict of insanity was returned. The feeling was so strong against him that he was returned to Chicago, where he was kept under constant watch during the winter.
