A conversation with another gen person indicated there might have been ads placed in German language newspapers and possibly English language newspapers for young women who were interested in immigrating to the United States.
Time frame - 1870's - ?. Does anyone out there have any definite (more or less) information of whether this practice about advertising for brides was true? I have never seen this discussed on any lists. For what is is worth, my grandmother probably was a "mail-order bride. Thanks for any thoughts on the subject. Karlyn
