Hello,
You may wish to post your query in the county genweb site that includes the city of Des Moines and that is Polk county Or in the unknown county board. This is not a Bremer problem.

The other general impressions I have of your query is that this man spend 40 or more years in Canada. Was he a Canadian citizen? Was he in the military service? Was he any kind of pensioner? Did he have family in Canada? What newspapers are filmed for the towns where he lived? If he was Roman Catholic the diocese that runs the cemetery where he was buried would have a file on him. Was there a probate record? These are all items that are relatively modern and would be found in Canadian records.

If your question is who are his parents and what was their origins and fate it appears from the Allamakee IA Genweb Board responses that you should have a good start. I would ask for documentation or at least how to get those documents.
