SUMNER - Darlene Minnie Boedecker 81, of Rockwell City, formerly of Sumner, died Tuesday, June 21, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge.

She was born Aug. 6, 1929, in Waverly, daughter of Andrew and Melinda Sauerbrei Nicklaus. On June 26, 1949, she married Allen E. Boedecker at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli. He died in 2009.

Mrs. Boedecker was educated in Sumner, then worked at Sumner Produce for several years. The couple owned and operated a Sinclair Station in Rockwell City for 10 years, and in the summer operated the Twin Lakes Park Stand. She worked as a cook for the Calhoun County Home, the Lunch Box in both Rockwell City and Manson; and had worked at Tony Kart, Manson. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survived by: a son, Steve (Judy) of Twin Lakes; a daughter, Sandy Brehm of Williamsburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandsons; two stepgreat-grandsons; four sisters, Dorothy Wehling of Sumner, Karla Nicklaus of Minneapolis, Janice Schweer of Davenport and Linda Niedert of Sumner; and a brother, Leon Nicklaus of Sumner.

Preceded in death by: a grandson; a sister, Velma Schnor; and two brothers, Andy and Carlyle Nicklaus.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, both in Rockwell City. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City.
