George Kuepker, longtime resident of this area, dies

George F. Kuepker, 91, retired farmer and long-time resident of the Sumner community, died Friday, Dec. 9 at 4:20 p.m. at the Sumner Community Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Death was attributed to complications incident to advanced age.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain, with the pastor, Rev. Leroy Gutermuth of Sumner, officiating. Prayer service was held at 8 p.m. Monday at the Milnes Funeral Home. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner township at Spring Fountain.

George Frederick Kuepker was born March 12, 1875 at Chicago, the son of Bernard and Caroline Dahlstein Kuepker. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Jacobi Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago.

On March 19, 1896, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Mau at Chicago.

They came to Iowa in 1917, settling on a farm in the Sumner community and he has spent the remainder of his life on a farm.

His wife preceded him in death in 1941.

Surviving are three sons, Erwin, Walter, and Norman, all of Sumner; one brother, John of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, a son, George, in 1962, his parents, one brother and three sisters.
