SUMNER - Mabel Marie Thurm, 89, of Sumner, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Hillcrest Home, Sumner, after a short illness.

She was born Sept. 19, 1921, in the Pinhook area, rural Sumner, daughter of Fred J. and Anna A. Meier Tonne. She married Edmund Gerhardt Thurm on Aug. 26, 1951, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Oct. 3, 1999.

Mrs. Thurm attended school in Frederika. She and her husband farmed near Frederika, and she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Frederika.

Survived by: a daughter, Marlene (Ron) Luloff of Waterloo; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Frederika, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be made to St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund.
