SUMNER — Maynard Otto Klemp, 76, of Sumner, died at home Sunday, Nov. 28.

He was born May 6, 1934, in Readlyn, son of Otto and Lydia Branser Klemp. He married Mardell Bock on Jan. 1, 1956, in Tripoli, and they later divorced. He then married Charlotte Latham on June 30, 1975, in Wisconsin.

Mr. Klemp worked for Grain Systems, Sumner, for 34 years, and also drove a truck for Tonges Farms. He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Alaska during the Korean War.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Rick (Tracy) of Heartland, Wis., Mark (Teresa) of Sumner and Jeff of Fredericksburg; three daughters, Vicki (Doug) Krivanek of Lenexa, Kan., Cindy Klemp of Fredericksburg and Mary (Bob) Weightman of Fort Myers, Fla.; five stepsons, Ted (Judy) Schott and Terry Schott Sr., both of Fredericksburg, Robert Schott of New Hampton, Jeff (Sheryl) Schott of Cedar Falls and Gary Schott of Maynard; a stepdaughter, Deanna Jarchow of Sumner; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Gloria Klemp and Jolene Sundvold; and a brother, Loren.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, with burial in Alpa Cemetery, Alpha. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
