WAVERLY - Melva E. Blasberg, 87, of Waverly, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at Waverly Health Center of natural causes.

She was born April 25, 1923, in Waverly, daughter of Leo and Edna Seaman Ultch. She married Edgar Blasberg on Jan. 21, 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Mrs. Blasberg graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1940, then worked at Independent Meat and Grocery store in Waverly. Later she and her husband farmed, retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Survived by: her husband.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Yvonne Gambaiani.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Chapel-Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice – Waverly office, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
