WAVERLY - Norma Lydia Schroeder, 85, of Waverly, formerly of Readlyn, died Thursday, Dec. 17, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Bremer County, daughter of William and Sophia Zell Seehase. She married Harold E. Schroeder Sept. 22, 1946, at St. John Lutheran Church, Buck Creek. He died April 16, 2005.

She attended country and parochial school near Buck Creek and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She was secretary to Koeberle-Heyer Co. and a stay-at-home mom. She worked in sales at Penney's and Arlans Department store, and was secretary at Community Builders. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn and the VFW Auxiliary of Readlyn.

Survived by: four daughters, Cheryl (Lloyd) Bergmann of Blue Grass, Cecelia (Larry Mason) Schroeder of Des Moines, Clarice (Will) Leistikow of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Candace (Tom) Pfalzgraf of Delhi; four grandchildren, Cory Leistikow, Matt Bergmann, Lana Leistikow, and Nick

Bergmann; two great-grandsons, Cayden and Colton Bergmann; a sister, Irene Tweedy of Beebe, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Doretta Seehase of Sumner and Geraldine Seehase of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, William, Edwin, and Raymond; a sister, Esther Fagenbaum; two sisters-in-law, Hulda Seehase and Margaret Seehase; and two brothers-in-law, LeRoy Fagenbaum and Paul Tweedy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, both in Readlyn. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn.

Memorials: may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.

Besides the special times with family, Norma and Harold loved camping, fishing, and traveling and visited all 50 states, all provinces in Canada, except one, Mexico and several countries in Europe.
