Jim Madden, 84, Dies At Sumner
SUMNER (Special) - Funeral services for Jim Madden, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran church here Thursday. Prayer services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Berg funeral home.

Mr. Madden died this morning (Tuesday) at 4:30 at his home here.

Survivors of the retired farmer include a son, Francis, Waterloo; and four daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Long and Mrs. Leo Moody, Waterloo; Mrs. Will Hagedorn, Fredericksburg; and Mrs. Ethel Waterman, Sumner. Also 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Feb. 26, 1954; one daughter and one son.

Mr. Madden was born near Tripoli in 1871, the son of George and Sarah Madden. He married Lucy Johnston Nov. 29, 1929 at Frederika. The couple farmed near Sumner.
