PLAINFIELD - Kent Chester, 70, of Plainfield, died Thursday, March 18, at Manor Care, Waterloo, of cancer.

He was born June 6, 1939, in Waverly, son of Nathan Arthur and Marie Sybil Johnston Chester.

He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1957. He attended Wartburg College 1958-59 and Gates Business School in Waterloo, graduating in 1961. Mr. Chester entered the U.S. Army where he served from 1962-64. He farmed and worked at Pennick and Ford in Cedar Rapids until 1969. He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.

Survived by: two brothers, George (Evelyn) and Lemar (Judy), both of Clarksville; and a brother-in-law, Dean Dietz of Horton.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Lorraine Dietz.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Plainfield United Methodist Church, with burial in Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield, where the Plainfield American Legion will give honors. Public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
