DENVER — Wilbert Duane Heideman, 85, of Denver, died Thursday, May 23, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 22, 1927, west of Denver, son of Edward and Clara Westendorf Heideman.

He attended country school near his home and later helped on the family farm. He served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1950 and later served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. Mr. Heideman worked at Schumacher Elevator and after 16 years he retired in 1989. After retirement he worked for Tom Lahman in his metal spinning shop.

Survived by: two nieces; and a host of close friends.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, Marvin and Lloyd.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites conducted by Acker Matthias Post 653, Denver. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Denver Sunset Home.
