SUMNER — Dorothy H. Gloede Niemeyer, 76, of Hazleton, formerly of Sumner, died Monday, May 27, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein.

She was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Bremer County, daughter of Robert and Viola Tietje Judisch. She married Leslie Gloede Aug. 28, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran of Buck Creek. He preceded her in death in May 2007. She married Orville Niemeyer on Sept. 19, 2008.

Mrs. Niemeyer had worked as a waitress and operated her own restaurant, The Big Dipper. She also worked at Walvatne Floor covering in Sumner for 20 years. She had been a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in rural Sumner and then St. John’s Lutheran Church of Buck Creek.

Survived by: her husband; three sons, Randy (Linda) Gloede of Denver, Rick (Kathy) Gloede of Sumner and Scott (JaDee) Gloede of La Porte City; a daughter, Kelly (Wayne) McKinney of Oklahoma City; six stepchildren, Patricia (Chuck) Bartie and Cheryl (Scott) Hampton, both of Sumner, Dale (Wendy) Niemeyer of Coffeeville, Okla., Lisa (Terry) Kegly of Ames, Denise (Thor) Johnson of Dunkerton and Darwin Niemeyer of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence (Dorothy) Judisch of Sumner and David (Gail) Judisch of Decorah; and three sisters, Ruth Steinbronn of Readlyn, Miriam (Don) Walker of Cedar Falls and Shirley Shookman of Surprise, Ariz.

Preceded in death by: her first husband; and her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church-Buck Creek, with burial in Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorial fund: will be established.
