SHELL ROCK - Helen Thompson, 94, of Shell Rock, died Tuesday, June 11, at Shell Rock Care Center of congestive heart failure.

She was born April 26, 1919, in rural Bremer County, east of Plainfield, daughter of Earl Scott and Edrie Valerie Scott Hill. She married Francis Carl "Fritz" Thompson on Dec. 6, 1944, on Staten Island, N.Y. He died June 17, 1989.

Mrs. Thompson graduated from Waverly High School in 1937. She worked for several restaurants before working for Fred’s Super Value in Waverly.

Survived by: two sons, Alexander (Evelyn) of Waverly and Glen "Sam" of Liberty, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; five sisters, Norma Briner of Waverly, Myrtle Moeller of Shell Rock, Shirley (Harlo) McKinty of Apache Junction, Ariz., Bonnie Kollenkark of Waukee, and Mary Lee (Marton) of Waverly; and a brother, Leonard (Frances) of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: her parents; two sons, Larry and Francis "Fritz" Jr.; and two sisters, Pauline Hill and Waneta Lillibridge.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Shell Rock. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Shell Rock, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Rebekah service by Clarksville Rebekah Lodge 533. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Disabled Veterans, Cedar Valley Hospice, or to United Methodist Church, Shell Rock.
