WAVERLY — Dr. Albert L. Eliasen, 77, of Waverly, died Tuesday, June 25, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.

He was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Plainfield, son of Leonard and Elsina Deike Eliasen.

He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1953, and from Iowa State University, Ames, in 1959 with a doctor of veterinary medicine. He then attended the University of Wisconsin, Research Fellowship, graduating in 1960. Mr. Eliasen practiced veterinary medicine in Plainfield for 13 years, and then moved to Waverly where he built a large and small animal clinic. In 1976, he sold his practice to Waverly Veterinary Clinic. He then moved to Texas and was professor of clinical medicine. He returned to Waverly in 1978 and became involved in farming and also worked for Salsbury Laboratories, Charles City, as technical veterinarian lecturing worldwide on swine and poultry disease. In 1984, he accepted a position with Pitman-Moore, Washington Crossing, N.J., as veterinary technical adviser, lecturing on the diagnosis and control of animal disease throughout the world. He was a past member of Plainfield United Methodist Church.

Survived by: a daughter, Cynthia (Dean) Richards of Albany, Ore.; a son, Albert (Mary) of Eden Prairie, Minn.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Bertha) of Illinois; and a sister, Francis Briggs of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a son, Stuart.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
