WAVERLY — Francis Edgar “Fran” Wollenzien, 68, of Waverly, died at home Saturday, July 27, from complications of cancer.

He was born Sept. 15, 1944, in West Allis, Wis., son of Edgar and Reka Lembke Wollenzien. On Jan. 16, 1965, he married Jane Barnard at Wartburg Chapel, Waverly.

Mr. Wollenzien graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1962, then graduated from Wartburg College, Waverly, with a bachelor’s degree in 1967. He owned and operated the Waverly Home Bakery for more than 30 years and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Todd (Joan) of West Des Moines; a daughter, Tessa (Terry) Hemann of Spencer; five grandchildren, Mackenzie and Natalie Wollenzien and Lucy, Millie and Jack Hemann; a sister, Ruth Hennings of Sumner; and a brother, the Rev. John (Dee) Wollenzien of Thief River Falls, Minn.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother-in-law, Bill Hennings.

Services: noon Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly, where visitation begins at 10 a.m., with burial in the church cemetery. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.

Fran’s enjoyments included flying, golf, collecting cookie jars, grilling, baking and being in the outdoors, especially Northern Minnesota. However, what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.
