WAVERLY — Lorraine May Sherburne, 85, of Waverly, died Thursday, Aug. 15, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born Oct. 1, 1927, on a farm north of Waverly, daughter of Werner A. and Louise Laube Heyer. On May 26, 1950, she married Arlo Sherburne at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Mrs. Sherburne was a 1945 graduate of Waverly High School. She worked at Lutheran Mutual (now CUNA Mutual) from 1945 to 1951. The couple farmed near Shell Rock, Clarksville and Plainfield. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Shell Rock.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Janet (Robert) Hansen of Milo and JoAnn (Ernie) Andriese of Alameda, Calif.; two sons, Gene (Deb) of Andover, Minn., and Glen (Kim) of New Sharon; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Linda) Heyer of Waverly; a sister-in-law, Joyce Heyer of Waverly; and brother-in-law, V.W. Morasch.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Jane Marie Sherburne; a brother, Lavern G. Heyer; and a sister, Evelyn Morasch

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Shell Rock, with burial in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
