SUMNER -- Almira “Mrya” Pease, 104, of Sumner, died Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Hillcrest Home, Sumner.

She was born Nov. 29, 1908, in St. Ansgar, daughter of the Rev. Paul Prentice and Gertrude Helen Horsfall Pease.

Ms. Pease graduated from high school at Lime Springs, and from Upper Iowa University in 1931. She taught school at a number of northeastern Iowa schools, including Readlyn and Tripoli. She taught for seven years in country schools around Sumner, and taught two years in an Amish school. She concluded her teaching career at Lamont and Dundee. She was a member of United Methodist Church.

Survived by: two nieces, Patience L. (Larry) Brock of Ellamore, W.Va., and Gertrude “Trudy” C. (Charles) Kincade of Little Rock, Ark.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Sumner, with burial Grandview Cemetery, Fayette. Visitation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Hillcrest Home.
