WAVERLY -- Jewel Adeline Barker, 89, of Waverly, formerly of Ottumwa, died Monday, Sept. 30, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Dec. 15, 1923, daughter of Walter and Viola Bergman. She married LaVern Barker on Dec. 24, 1941; he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and was a member of Northgate Alliance Church, Ottumwa.

Survived by: a daughter, Connie Terrell; a son, Walter LaVern (Cathy); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, June Heinz; and two brothers, Scotty Hamilton and Wally Bergman.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Clifford Leedall and Vincent Bergman.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. Monday at Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Memorials: may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
