Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church for Mrs. Herbert Kempin, 55 of 2407 W. 7th St., who died at Allen Memorial Hospital at 11:35 p.m. Saturday of complications of a brain tumor. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.

She was born Edna C. Borcherding on Sept. 18, 1917 in Sumner, the daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina Block Borcherding. She was married to Herbert Kempin on Feb. 24, 1945 in Cedar Falls. She was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband at home; two daughters, Karen, a student at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.; and Pamela at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Albrecht; and Mrs. Clarence Niewoehner of Sumner; five brothers, Arthur, Emil and Erwin Borcherding all of Sumner; Werner of Fredericksburg, and Leslie of Waverly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother.
