CHAS. MADDEN DIES INSTANTLY FRIDAY
Former Local Man Stricken in Minneapolis While
Visiting Son

The sad news came to local relatives and friends telling of the death of Charles Madden, a native of this community, who died instantly in a store in Minneapolis, Minn., Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lang, Will Lang and James Madden left early Sunday morning for Marshall, Minn., to attend the funeral Monday afternoon at the Madden home there. Mrs. Madden will be remembered here as Anna Lang, daughter of John Lang of this place, and sister of Frank and Will of this place, and John Lang of Reinbeck. Charles Madden was a brother of James Madden, a farmer in the Finnell community.

The message of his death was sent by John Lang who had been in Marshall for several days transacting business. The store in which he died in Minneapolis was the one in which one of his sons is employed.

Mr. Madden grew to manhood in this community, having been born on a farm 4.5 miles southwest of Sumner. After moving to Minnesota, he acquired extensive real estate holdings, most of which were operated by his sons.
