Funeral services for Ernst Bergmann, who passed away Sunday, June 14, at 10:15 a.m., were held this (Wednesday) afternoon at the Meier and Rettig funeral home. The services were continued to St. Paul's Lutheran church at Siegel and interment was in the church cemetery. Rev. E. E. Senst, pastor of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church, Siegel, officiated at the services. Casket bearers were Everett Bergmann, Clarence Bergmann, Donald Bergmann, Melvin Bergmann, Robert Bergmann, and Harlan Pose.

Ernst August Fredrich Bergmann was born September 24, 1875, in Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Louis Bergmann. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran church at Siegel, where he served for a time as trustee.

He lived in Douglas township all his life. The last 57 years were spent on the farm where he died, at the home of his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Zander.

He was married in 1896 to Melosine Plumhoff, who preceded him in death in 1909. They were the parents of four sons, Theodore, who died in infancy, Ernest who died in 1936, Alvin, and Edwin.

October 27, 1910, he united in marriage with Lena Kuecker, who passed away November 25, 1932. They were the parents of one daughter, Selma.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Herman, Carl, Fred, and William. Surviving are two sons, Alvin and Edwin, and one daughter, (Selma) Mrs. Lorenz Zander; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. August Brase of Waverly, and one brother, Henry Bergmann of Plainfield.
