Marie A. Kasemeier, 98, of Sumner, died Tuesday, May 29, at Hillcrest Home, Sumner, after a sudden illness.

She was born April 3, 1909, near Westgate, rural Fayette County, daughter of Herman and Bertha Berndt Sabin. She married Bernhardt Kasemeier Nov. 28, 1934, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain. He died June 20, 1999.

Mrs. Kasemeier received her education at St. Peter's Parochial School, Westgate. She and her husband farmed in the Buck Creek area until retiring in 1974, when they moved to Sumner.

Survived by: two sons, Kenneth (Sharon) of Sumner and James (Lorraine) of Denver; a daughter, Dianne Flaucher of Marion; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Leona Kasemeier of Waverly. Preceded in death by: two sons, Lyle and a stillborn son; four sisters, Martha Sabin, Ida Leech, Erna Bahe and Ella Hoth; and four brothers, William, Otto, Richard and Alvin.

Services: 10:30 a.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sumner, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery, Sumner Township, rural Sumner.
