Elda Louise Lampe, 86, of Readlyn, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Iowa.

Elda was born on October 12, 1923, in rural Frederika, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Bergmann) Bahlmann. Elda attended country school in Bremer County and following her schooling worked as a cook and housekeeper at the Bremer County Farm. On November 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Lampe at the Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tripoli. The couple made their home in Waverly until 1957, when they moved to Readlyn.

Elda was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn. She liked to embroider, had a great love for birds and squirrels. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Elda is survived by her five daughters, Marilyn (Charles) Baird of Riceville, Iowa; Brenda (Keith) Endelman of Muskegan, Michigan; Joann Petersen of Nashua, Iowa; Nancy (Jerry) Irons of Holmen, Wisconsin; and Carolyn (Steve) Heineman of Sumner, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur Lampe on June 22, 1990, one son, Steven Lampe, one daughter, Connie Deterding; a brother, Clarence Bahlmann; and two sisters, Elnora Wedemeier and Leona Krueger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Readlyn. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home, Readlyn. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church
