Death of Mrs. Babbitt.
The late Elizabeth Pearl Babbitt, third child of Mr. and Mrs. William Gaede, was born on the 7th day of August, 1888, at Sumner, Bremer county, Iowa and was baptized by Rev. H. Bredow on September 23rd of the same year. After having graduated from the parochial school of the Lutheran St. Johns congregation at Sumner she was confirmed after the Lutheran rites on Palm Sunday, April 6, 1903. The following four years she spent at home and then went to Minneapolis, Minn., where she worked for two years. On the 5th day of July she was married to Mr. John Warren Babbitt in Omaha, Neb. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. As her husband was a traveling salesman and had to be on the road most of the time, the deceased during the first two years of her marriage made her home at her parents here in Sumner. Then she moved with her husband to St. Louis, Missouri, where they resided two years. From St. Louis they went to Chicago where they resided until last spring. They then moved to Willmette, Ill., where she took sick with the influenza and on the 20th of October was taken to the Evanston hospital where her condition became exceedingly critical. Three days after her removal to the hospital she lost consciousness never to regain it. She quietly passed away on Thursday morning, October 24, at 5:30. Her body was transferred to Sumner for interment.

The deceased during her natural life has always been devoted to her parents, to her husband she was a faithful wife and to her children a loving mother. She leaves the following relatives to bemourn her loss, her husband, John Warren Babbitt, her two sons, Edwin and John, respectively 8 and 6 years old, her two daughters, Elizabeth and Mary Jane, respectively 4 and 2 years old. Her brothers Herman in South Dakota, August, a U.S. Soldier somewhere in France, William in Kansas City, Mo., and Ernest, a student of Theology at Wartburg college, Waverly, Iowa. She also has two sisters, Sylvia, married to Mr. John D. Whalen at New London, Conn., and Emma who is a nurse in the Chicago hospital.

The age of the deceased was 30 years, 2 months and 10 days.

Funeral services were held Sunday Rev. H. Bredow officiating and Interment made in the Lutheran cemetery.
