Obituary of Mrs. Christ Mueller

The late Minnie Dorothy Mueller oldest child of the late Carl Pries and his wife, Dorothy, was born at Rosenhagen, Germany on the 8th day of April, 1854 and there also was baptized in the Lutheran creed. When she was only 2 weeks old her parents emigrated to this country. As they had to make the voyage in a sailboat it took them thirteen long weeks to cross the ocean. At first they settled in Donalds Grove, Ill., and after 12 years moved to Bremer county, Iowa, where they remained in Crane Creek one year and where the deceased was confirmed by the Rev. Behrens and then they moved to Bremer where they bought a farm and remained for the rest of their life. On the 4th day of April, 1875, the deceased was married to Mr. Christ Mueller, of Waverly, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters of which however, two sons have preceded the mother in death.

The young couple made their home in Charles City where they resided for twenty years and in November 1898 they located in Sumner where they have remained since.

Although the deceased enjoyed good health, yet a careful examination last November revealed the fact that an intestinal tumor had formed which was developing rapidly and in connection with which, finally also dropsy formed.

In consequence thereof the strength of the patient began to fail very rapidly. Last Friday evening, a week ago she received communion, and on last Monday morning at 9:30 she breathed her last.

She leaves the following relatives to bemourn her loss: Her husband, Christ Mueller; one son, Joe; also three daughters, Frances, wife of Mr. August Koebrich; Lois, wife of Mr. Herman Niemaun, and Edith. Seven granchildren. Furthermore three brothers, Carl Louis and John Pries, and four sisters, Dora, wife of the late Wm. Ehlert; Fredericke, wife of Henry Mantle; Emma, wife of Carl Treptow; Hulda, wife of Aug. Thymann. Her age was 64 years, 9 months, and 24 days.

May she rest in peace.
