HENRY HUEBNER, 66 NATIVE OF CO. DIES SATURDAY MORNING

Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke After Brief Illness of Two Days

The many friends of Henry Huebner, 66, a life long resident of this community, were shocked Saturday morning when it became known that he had reached life's close after a brief illness of only two days. Death was due to a paralytic stroke which came without warning Thursday.

Until that time, Mr. Huebner had been in his apparent good health. He had assisted Thursday forenoon, at the Champlin service station, operated by his son and son-in-law.

For a number of years he had resided on a farm in the Buck Creek vicinity, and later for eight years near Tripoli. He chose to retire from active pursuits ten years ago and came to Sumner to live.

Henry Huebner, son of Edward and Eleanore King Huebner, was born February 20, 1805, in Maxfield township, Bremer county, Iowa.

On January 14, 1892, he was united in marriage with Sophie Knief. This union was blessed with 11 children, three of whom, Olivia, Fred and Stanley preceded their father into eternity.

The family always lived in this community. At first they lived for five years in Maxfield township, the next five years on a farm near Buck Creek, then again five years on a farm near Spring Fountain. They then moved to Tripoli. After eight years they returned to the farm at Buck Creek. In 1921, he retired from farming and moved to Sumner where they lived since.

In early infancy he received the sacred act of baptism, and after receiving instruction, he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1879 by Pastor Brauer. Throughout his life he was a faithful member of the church, and was a regular attendant at divine worship, even the last Sunday prior to his death.

His death is mourned by his wife; his children: Henry of Westgate, Herbert, Arthur, Mrs. Leo Niedert, Mrs. Harry Bergman, and Agnes of Sumner, Erwin of Waterloo, and Mrs. James Prideaux of Maynard; five brothers and sisters: Mrs. Fred Diercks, Mrs. John Sassman, and Ed Huebner of Readlyn, Mrs. Christ Langhorst of Barnam, Minn., and Fred Huebner of Frederika; also 17 grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were held from St. John's Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. C. J. Mardorf officiating. Interment took place in the Lutheran cemetery at Buck Creek.
