Funeral services were set for Tuesday, February 6 for rural Waukon, Iowa resident Esther Dorothy Klemp, age 70, who died Friday, February 2, 1990 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. The 1:30 p.m. services were held at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Readlyn with the Rev. Mark Saline officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Alan Stanton, Larry Formanek, Jeff Weber, Michael Wiedner, Todd Wiedner, Eric Prestemon and Jeff Wiedner.

Esther was born February 20, 1919 near Buck Creek in Bremer County to Hermann and Dorothea (Nieman) Schneider. She attended German School at Buck Creek and on June 15, 1939 she married Lester A. Klemp at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. They lived in Bremer County until 1978 when they moved to Allamakee County, Iowa. He died August 17, 1987. She was a member of St. Matthew's Church.

In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a brother Edwin Schneider.

Esther is survived by a son, James Klemp of Waukon, Iowa, 2 daughters, Carole (Jerry) Hadley of Dysart, Iowa and Rosalie (William) Wiedner of Waterloo, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Kirchloff of Sumner, Iowa.
