George H. Moeller owns and cultivates an excellent farm of one hundred and seventy-five acres on sections 27 and 28 and ten acres on section 21, Jefferson township, and upon this fine property is specializing in dairying and stock-raising and meeting with a gratifying degree of success. He was born at Columbus, Ohio, in 1867, and is a son of Herman and Susanna (Geyer) Moeller, the former a native of Germany and the latter of New York city. They were married in Columbus, Ohio, and there lived for four years, or until the father's death in 1870. The mother and children then came to Iowa and settled in Blackhawk county, remaining there for eighteen years. In the meantime the mother had married H.C. Krech and they afterward moved to Denver, where they now reside. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Moeller became the parents of three sons: John, who has passed away; George H., of this review; and Henry of Denver.

George H. Moeller acquired his education in the public schools of Blackhawk county and when he was twenty-two years of age moved to Waverly, where he spent three years following the blacksmith's trade. At the end of that time he moved to Missouri and engaged in farming for five years, after which he returned to Bremer county and took charge of his stepfather's farm. At the end of two years he bought in partnership with his brother one hundred and eighty-five acres in Jefferson township and has since purchased the latter's interest, being now sole proprietor of the farm. He has one hundred and seventy-five acres lying on section 27 and 28 and ten acres on section 21 and he has placed this land in a high state of cultivation. In addition to general farming he engages extensively in stock-raising and dairying and all branches of his activities have become important and profitable, for he is a practical agriculturist and a farsighted and able business man.

Mr. Moeller married Miss Lena Ehlerding, who was born in Chicago, a daughter of F.W. Ehlerding, of Webster county, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Moeller have six children: Orlinda S., who was born in 1892, and who is now the wife of W.H. Brinkman, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Alvin H.; Elsie M.; George O., Bertha L.; and Herman A.

Mr. Moeller is a member of the Evangelical church and he gives his political allegiance to the democratic party. He served as assessor of Jefferson township for ten years and is at present township clerk, discharging the duties of this office in an able and progressive way. His diligence and perseverance are the basis of his success and his life is a busy, active and useful one.
