Ralph Countyrman was reared at home and acquired his education in the district schools of LeRoy township. After the death of his father he operated the homestead for his mother until 1905, when he purchased one hundred and twenty acres of land on Section 1, LeRoy township. To this he has since added eighty acres and he has greatly improved this place, remodeling some of the buildings, erecting new ones and installing necessary equipment. Mr. Countryman engages in dairy farming with the success which always rewards earnest and persistent labor.

Mr. Countryman married Miss Alice Barker, who was born in Chickasaw county, a daugher of James Barker, who was connected with agricultural interests of that locality for a number of years and who died on his farm in Chickasaw county, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Countryman have a son, Leon Rex. Mr. Countryman gives his polical allegiance to the republican party and for the past five years has been treasurer of his school district. His entire life has been spent in LeRoy township, where his many excellent qualities of mind and character have made him widely and favorably known.
