General farming and stock-raising command the attention of Henry Reimler, who since 1904 has owned and operated his farm of one hundred and sixty acres on section 17, Sumner township, and in its cultivation has surrounded himself with an enviable degree of prosperity. He was born in Bremer county, August 27, 1869, and is a son of Fred and Elizabeth (Cloth) Reimler, natives of Germany. They came to Bremer county about 1866 and the father purchased the land which is still in possission of the family. His first wife died when the subject of this review was fourteen years of age and he afterward married Elizabeth Linder, a native of Germany and now a resident of Sumner. Fred Reimler was one of the organizers of the Evangelical Association in this neightborhood and was active in religious circles. By his first marriage he had seven children: Henry, of this review; Fred and Winnie, who have passed away; Sarah, who married William Feind, of Wisconsin; Charles, deceased; William, who is operating the home farm; and Louis, of Sumner, Iowa. By his second union Fred Reimler had two daughters: Amanda, the wife of J.X. Meyers, of Sumner; and Mabel, who lives at home.

Henry Reimler was reared upon his father's farm and there remained until he was twenty-two years of age. He then purchased one hundred and twenty acres of land in Fayette county, operating this for five years. At the end of that time he sold his interests and moved to Sumner, where he spent a similar period as a clerk in a mercantile establishment. In 1904 he purchased one hundred and sixty acres on section 17, Sumner township, and upon this property has since resided, its present attractive appearance being entirely the result of his energy and enterprise. He has erected a comfortable home and substantial outbuildings and the church which his father organized also stands upon the farm. It is a well improved and valuable property and it reflects everywhere the careful supervision and practical labor which the owner bestows up it.

In this county Mr. Reimler married Miss Anna Wolfgram, a native of Germany, and they have four children, Clara, Belva, Fred and Selma. Mr. Reimler is a member of the Zion Evangelical church ans is a democrat in his political beliefs, serving at the present time as treasurer of the district school board. He has proven himself a competent official and his fidelity to honorable and manly principles has won for him the good-will and friendship of those with whom he has been brought in contact.
