W.D. Chapin, who owns and operates three hundred and seventy acres of land in Tripoli township, was born on the farm where he now lives April 24, 1869, a son of Lyman Chapin. He acquired his education in the district schools and was a pupil in the Tripoli high school. After laying aside his books he continued upon his father's farm and he has never left this property, which he now owns. He has greatly increased it and his holdings now comprise three hundred and seventy acres, all in a high state of cultivation. Mr. Chapin is a progressive and able farmer and has met with gratifying success in the conduct of his agricultural interests.

Mr. Chapin married Miss Rosa Bennett, who was born in Bremer county, and they have become the parents of five children: Gleason B., Dorothea G., Ruth, Lyman and Lynn. The parents are members of the Congregational church. Mr. Chapin is a republican in his political beliefs and has served as school director. He is widely and favorably known in his native community, holding the esteem and good-will of all who are associated with him.
