During the entire period of his active life Christ Miller has been engaged in the blacksmith business and since 1908 has conducted a well equipped shop in Readlyn, where he has gained recognition as a successful and prosperous business man. He was born in Germany, March 24, 1869, and is a son of John and Gotlieben (Wahl) Miller, also natives of Germany, where their deaths occurred. In their family were six children: Mrs. Rosina Zeis, of Germany; Mrs. Carolina Krab, of Franklin township; Mrs. Christina Steinbron, also of Franklin township; Christ, of this review, John, of Waterloo; and Gottlob, residing in Germany.

Christ Miller came to America in 1895 and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he worked at the blacksmith's trade. He afterward moved to Waterloo, Iowa, and thence to Dunkerton, where he worked for a year and a half before moving to Klinger. He conducted a shop in the latter city until 1908, when he moved his establishment and tools to Readlyn, where he has since remained. His shop here is second to none in Bremer county, being completely equipped and modern in every particular. In connection with it Mr. Miller carries a full line of farm implements and does repair work of all kinds. He controls a large business, requiring the services of an assistant in the shop and his trade is increasing rapidly, for his work is of a high quality and his business methods honorable and straightforward. Mr. Miller owns one hundred and twenty acres of excellent land on section 30, Franklin township, and this property he has made valuable and productive by his intelligent management.

In Dunkerton, Iowa, Mr. Miller married Miss Carolina Weber, who was born in Germany, March 3, 1870. She is a daughter of Karl and Rosina (Fisher) Weber, also natives of Germany, where they are still residing. Mr. and Mrs. Miller became the parents of five children as follows: Elsie, born June 27, 1896; Arthur, born August 27, 1898; Adolph, whose birth occurred September 6, 1902; Harold, whose natal day was September 20, 1908; and Hortense, born December 23, 1911. the eldest was born in Dunkerton but the others are all natives of Maxfield township.

Mr. Miller is a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church of Readlyn and gives his political allegiance to the democratic party, serving as a member of the town council. Prosperous in his business connections, he proves what may be accomplished by determined and persistent labor, for by his own industry and enterprise he has secured the success which he today enjoys, utilizing every opportunity which might lead to honorable advancement.
