Life Sketch:
Mrs. Mary Hull was born in Clay county, Indiana on the 27th day of February, 1847, and passed away at her home in Worth township, Boone county, May 25th, 1923, aged 76 years 2 months and 28 days. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Rebecca Payne, both of whom were born and reared in the state of Indiana. Her father passed away when she was about 3 years of age, after which she and her mother took up their abode with her grandparents, John and Mary Sturdivant, in which family she grew to womanhood. In October, 1851, with her mother and grandparents, she moved to Boone county, Iowa, and located in Worth township where she continued to reside to the time of her death, a period of 72 years. This fact places her among the pioneer women of Boone county.
On the 17th of March 1867, at the age of 20, she was married to Jackson Hull, also a pioneer of Boone county and a veteran of the Civil War. To this union were born three children, two daughters and one son. The older daughter, Ida, is now the wife of Porter Zenor. The second daughter, May, wife of B. F. Hull, passed away when 21 years of age. The son, Frank, resides a short distance from the parental home . . .
She and her husband, Jackson Hull, were charter mambers of the Meadow Grove Church of Christ which congregation was organized in 1881. From that date to the present, she and her husband have always been among the chief workers and most devoted members.
To mourn their loss, she leaves her sorrowing husband, her son and daughter, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides these, there are many other relatives and a large circle of friends.
