Funeral Services Held at the Home of His Daughter, Mrs. Paul R. Dyer of Colfax Township Wednesday Afternoon

Peter Dierks was born in Germany,August 18, 1842. He was 74 years, 5 months, and 5 days old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Amelia Schaffner, Aug.24, 1871. To them was born six daughters and one son. One daughter preceded them in death. The living are Mrs. John Tonsfeldt, Webster, Wis.; Mrs. Dan McNab, Brewster, Minn.; Mrs. Eugene White, Burwell, Neb.; Mrs. Paul Dyer, Boone, Iowa; John Dierks, Burwell, Neb.; Mrs. Eva Swihart, Lincoln, Neb. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. White.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul R. Dyer of Colfax township, with who he had made his home for some years. The Rev. J.C. Crawford of the Boone Gospel Tabernacle had charge of the services. He took for his text, 1st Kings 18:37; "A revival of time and old time religion. The pall bearers were Messrs. Charles Salander, W. H. Wytte(?), Frank Duffy, Leonard Short, Tim Timanson, E. O. Lansing. The music was furnished by the male quartet of the Boone Bible college, composed of Messrs. Bankston, Body and Ben and John Dirks, sang "In That Land So Far Away," "There is Nothing Can Help Us Like Prayer," and "That Faithful Land." Burial was made in the Boone cemetery, near the State road south.
