"Funeral services for the late George Robert Thomas were held Saturday, Nov. 30 from the Schroder Funeral Home with Dr. E A Briggs, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, in charge. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. (Boone, IA)

George Robert THOMAS was born in Moingona, IA 2-17-1897, and died at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines, IA 11-28-1940 at the age of 43 years, 9 months and 11 days. He was the son of John and Isabelle Thomas. He moved to Boone with his parents when he was a boy.

July 7, 1921, he was married to Hazel CLARK. To this union were born three children, Bill Dean, Marjorie Elaine, and Joan Lee, all of whom survive him. He is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth HARDIE and Katherine YEAGER of Salem, Oregon, and Helen NOLAN of Portland, Oregon, and two half brothers, William and Arthur Thomas. One sister, Mary DEAL and a half brother, Alf, being deceased.

He was a World War One Veteran and had been employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co for 24 years. During the years he had lived in Boone he made countless friends and was loved and honored by all who knew him. His life was built around his family toward whom all his love and devotion was directed.

He entered the Veteran's Hospital 10-21-1940, and during this time was frequently visited by an old friend, the Rev. Harry Herlein of the United Brethren Church to whom he gave his confidence.
Mr. Thomas is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends who extend sincere sympathy in this time of bereavement."
