JOHN W. THOMAS, FOR YEARS EMPLOYED BY THE NORTHWESTERN, PASSES AWAY

John W. THOMAS was born in South Wales 1-30-1852 and died at his home in Boone 3-4-1915, being 63 years, 1 month, and 5 days old. The deceased came to America with his parents when but a boy, first settling in Pennsylvania, and later moved to Iowa and settled in Moingona. May 25, 1874 he married Elizabeth CARSWELL(Caswell). To this union were born 3 children, WJ THOMAS of New York City and Alfred W THOMAS and Arthur THOMAS of Boone. His wife Elizabeth died 9-10-1888 and he was married to Isabelle SANDILANDS on 11-20-1890. To this union were born 5 children, Katherine YEAGER of Westmore, Montana, Elizabeth, Mary, Helen, and George of Boone. The deceased is survived by a wife, 4 sons, 4 daughters and one brother. The funeral was held at the home of 8th street atten thirty am. and the family and friends accompanied the body to the deceased's old home, Moingona. The services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church at one thirty, the Rev. JC Crawford of Boone in charge. He spoke from the text in John 14th. The choir composed of Mrs. Ericson, Mrs. Roadstrom, and Miss North sang "Rock of Ages", "Blest Be the Tie That Binds", and "it is Well With My Soul". The pallbearers were Messrs. JW Peacock, William Parks, Lincoln Rule, and James Egan, all close friends of the family. Interment was made in Moingona Cemetery.
