Vernon Krug's Funeral Rites in Home, Church

Lad was Victim of Spinal Meningitis, Was Ready to Start High School in the Fall

Vernon, 16, was Son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Krug and was Born in Mackey Vicinity, Later Moving Here

Brief funeral services for Vernon Krug were held at the residence of the parents of te deceased Thursday, July 16, at 2:15 p.m., the pastor of Trinity Lutheran , Rev. O. Erbe, reading the ritual and offering prayer.

At the church many friends and neighbors gathered. The pastor based his remarks and offered comfort from 2 Kings 4:28: "Is it well with the child? And she answered, it is well."

Misses Lenore Kruse and Dorothy Jipp sang: "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide With Me," Mrs. Ivan Smith at the organ. The flowers were in charge of Mesdames Chas. Toepfer, John Gebert, August Luckritz.

The casket was borne to the grave by Wilmer Grabau, Norman Erbe, John Davis, Richard Bloomfield, Arthur Jefferson, Lawrence Leininger. Interment was made in the cemetery of St. Paul's Lutheran at Mackey.

Ready for High School

Vernon Robert Krug, oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Krug was born June 20, 1920 in Harrison Township. After some years residence on the farm the parents moved to Boone. Here Vernon entered Trinity Lutheran School until the time of graduation in the seventh grade when he entered junior high, continuing his studies there. Excellent predicates and fine standing in his class would have admitted him in the fall to the senior year in high school.

He was stricken with spinal Meningitis May 13, receiving the best of care and attention at the local hospital for some weeks. Later on he was taken to the parental home where he grew weaker until his life terminated Tuesday morning, July 14, aged 16 years and 24 days.
