Virginia Rose, 89, of the Eastern Star Masonic Home and formerly of 315 South Marion St., died of heart failure at the Eastern Star Home Wednesday. Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 3, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Boone, with the Rev. Phil Webb officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Boone Memorial Gardens.

She was born on a farm southwest of Ogden May 3, 1914, the daughter of C. Oscar and Susie (Lindahl) Anderson. Virginia graduated from Boone High School in 1932. On April 6, 1946, she married Dean Rose at Maryville, Mo. For 32 years, she was employed at Archway Cookies as an oven operator and an inspector. She retired in October 1985.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Martha Circle of her church, and the American Legion Post 56 Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking pies for the Auxiliary for the Legion's Bingo nights.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers Louis, Herbert, Robert and William Anderson, and one sister Mabel Allison.

Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Stone and Barbara of Hillsboro, Ore., and Thomas and Sandi of Boone; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lavonne Shearer, Tamara and Glenn Peterson, all of Boone, and Roxanne and Lynn Aplanalp of Gunlock, Utah; one sister, V. Louise Mehlow of Ames; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion. Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
